Joseph Colbeck-Jones

Joseph is currently a student at Cardiff University, studying for his Masters in Music Performance on an excellence scholarship. He graduated in 2023 from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama after studying woodwind performance on a scholarship. During his studies he has participated in masterclasses given by world renowned bassoonists such as Theo Plath (Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra), Amy Harman (Aurora Orchestra and English National Opera), Simon Estelle (London Philharmonic Orchestra) and Margaret Cookhorn (City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra).

Joseph received his ARSM Diploma in Piano Performance in 2024 and is working towards obtaining his LRSM Diploma with his piano teacher Jonathan Gulliford. He has been the musical director of Colstars Theatre Company, Aberdare since 2022 and accompanist for Côr Meibion Dowlais since 2019. He has previously worked with other choirs as an accompanist, such as Neath Male Voice Choir, Abercynon Male Voice Choir and the Phoenix Singers. Joseph is a theatre pit musician and has worked with numerous theatre companies across South Wales, some of his most recent being: West Side Story, Phantom of the Opera, The Wedding Singer and Nativity! The Musical. He is also an event pianist under HMH Piano Collective, providing piano music across the country for weddings and other events.
