John Close

John Close is a graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and holds a Masters in Jazz Guitar. He has performed in a variety of settings and ensembles at venues such as The Southbank Centre, Green Man Festival, Jazz at the Lescar, The Vortex, The Flute and Tankard and the Dora Stoutsker Concert Hall. John’s current music projects include a Jazz Organ Trio, Guitarist in The Siglo section Big Band and Guitarist in Angharad Jenkin’s project Angharad.

Whilst at RWCMD John studied with Jez Franks, Ant Law and Geoff Simkins and in his final year performed in the RWCMD student showcase led by New York based guitarist Gilad Hekselman at the Vortex in London.

In addition to teaching at Tongwynlais Music Academy, John is also a tutor for Cardiff and Vale Music Service (CAVMS) and Rhondda Cynon Taff Music Service. For more information, visit John’s website: john-close.co.uk
